Ben Union releases "VAMP"
Are you ready to dance?
On Ben Union’s latest LP “VAMP,” which releases on Jan. 17, Union invites listeners to turn up the heat, let loose, and feel the rhythm.
On the song, “Shake That Ass,” which starts with party sounds and a whirling elevation like a space ship taking off, Union gives his fans a reason to clock out of work, leave all their stresses behind, paint the town, and at the end of the night, leave their debauchery at the door and have no regrets.
Union sings: When we go home late tonight/we’re going to leave it all outside/no regrets for us tonight/shake that ass.
As a whole, the seven-track album plays like that hard-to-find mixed tape you’ve been dying to get your hands on to entertain guests at your next party.
Ben Union starts out the gate with industrial hard rock, accented with elements of synth pop, on cuts: “Do You Wanna Get High” and “Brake Light.”
“Tough Love” and “Stop” follow, evoking 1970s funk guitar and soul. The first single on the album, “Chain of Love,” is an acoustic rock ballad that echoes 1990s alternative rock.
Its simplistic lyrics describing a failing relationship, Union’s earnest vocal, and the man in the relationship asking his girlfriend if he’s just another link within her chain of love, makes this a standout on a record that adheres to no genre.
